Description (Top):

The year of proof of SIG Sauer pistols, which corresponds grosso-modo to the year of manufacture, is coded at the bottom front of the slide using letters (see Picture). Later pistols also have a letter code next to the proof mark (Picture, code BK = 19 = 2019). The letters have the following meaning: A: 0 B: 1 C: 2 D: 3 E: 4 F: 5 G: 6 H: 7 I/J: 8 K: 9 The coding "JG" in the above picture therefore corresponds to the year 1986 (86). The letters "I" and "J" both represent the digit "8".
