Antique Swiss 1896/11 Infantry Rifle, produced in 1898, in very good condition with 85% original finish. 5/5 Bore. 4/5 Stock. Stock and handguard matching serial numbers. Bolt matching serial number. Magazine matching serial number. Furniture finish is lightly worn overall. The handguard may have been previously sanded as the Swiss military acceptance stamp is almost gone. On the right side of the stock, there are various light to mild pressure marks throughout the butt and a mild scratch/gouge below the forward end of the comb. Light pressure marks to the left of the finger groove. Light scraping on the forearm adjacent to the front barrel band. On the left side of the stock, there are mostly light pressure marks around the butt, but there are a few light gouges present. Mild pressure marks on the grip. There is a heavy pressure mark on the right edge of the finger groove, with a thin gouge above it. The initials "HF" are carved into the stock behind the rear barrel band. On the underside of the stock, there are several light to mild gouges on the pistol grip. Heavy pressure mark on the forearm before the rear barrel band. The handguard has light pressure marks between the ferrule and the rear barrel band, and there are several gouges between the two barrel bands. Receiver has mild to fair finish wear. There are various light to mild surface marks and light scratches throughout. Mild patina on the rear barrel band. Fair to moderate finish wear and mild patina on the front barrel band. Light finish wear and fair patina on the magazine plate. Mild to fair finish wear ad heavy patina on the trigger guard. Fair to moderate finish wear and heavy patina on the magazine. Receiver is P55 stamped, indicating privatization in 1955. Top bolt knob is cracked. Bottom bolt knob is chipped. Includes muzzle cover and leather sling. Antique; no import engraving. |
