Description:
Swiss 1896/11 Infantry Rifle, produced in 1899, in very good condition with 80% original finish. 5/5 Bore. 3/5 Stock. Stock and handguard matching serial numbers. Bolt matching serial number. Magazine matching serial number.

Stock has a very light tiger stripe patter on the right side at the butt. Handguard also has a tiger stripe pattern on the first third. Furniture has been previously sanded and refinished but still has light pressure marks throughout. The Swiss military acceptance stamp on the right side of the stock is very shallow from sanding. On the right side of the stock there are some very light scrapes along the bottom edge of the butt and a light gouge near the pistol grip. Multiple mild pressure marks to the left of the finger groove. To the right of the finger groove there is a long, light gouge. Before the barrel band there is a large, heavy gouge surrounded by rash which extends onto the handguard and is likely what prompted the previous owner to sand and refinish the stock. On the left side of the stock there are a couple of very light scratches above the rear sling loop. There is a light gouge at the top of the grip. To the right of the finger groove there are a few small, fair pressure marks and there are a pair of marks on the inside of the finger groove. On the underside of the stock, there is a divot next to the right side of the magazine plate, near the middle screw, that was likely a gouge before the furniture was sanded. There is also a gouge on the edge of the magazine plate in front of the magazine catch. The comb of the stock is stamped with LUZERN for Canton Lucerne, and an armory rack number, partially illegible and appears to read 8?811. Pressure mark at the end of the comb, near the receiver tang. On the right side of the handguard there is a light gouge about halfway between the two barrel bands.

Receiver has mild to fair finish wear and various surface marks in the metal. Heavier finish wear along the left side of the receiver, from the right edge of the left side lightening cut to the end of the receiver. Mild patina on the chamber and the front half of the receiver. The top and upper right side of the rear barrel band is in the white. Rear barrel band spring is in the white. Mild finish wear on the front barrel band. Fair finish wear on the magazine plate. Moderate to heavy finish wear and light patina on the trigger guard. Heavy finish wear on the magazine base.

Receiver is P stamped.

Lower bolt knob is cracked and chipped.
