Description:
Swiss 1896/11 Infantry Rifle, produced in 1900, in very good condition with 80% finish. 4/5 Bore (rifling has light to mild wear). 3/5 Stock. Stock and handguard matching serial numbers. Bolt matching serial number. Magazine matching serial number. 
 
Rifle was originally model 1889/96 and later converted into the 1896/11.
 
Furniture has fair handling wear, with moderate to heavy pressure marks throughout. On the right side of the stock, there are heavy pressure marks throughout the butt and on the grip. Above the rear sling mount, there is a small group of moderate to heavy gouges. To the left of the finger groove there are a few mild scratches. Above the finger groove there is a light gouge. There are several light to mild gouges in between the finger groove and the rear barrel band. Mild gouge in front of the rear barrel band. On the left side of the stock, there is some mild gouging on the butt, in between the rear sling mount and the pistol grip, a few heavy pressure marks rear of the grip and multiple heavy gouges on the pistol grip. Multiple light pressure marks and light gouges from the grip to the right side of the finger groove. There is some mild gouging on the inside of the finger groove and above the right side. On the underside of the stock there is a heavy gouge on the right side of the magazine plate, in front of the magazine catch, and a scratch in front of the magazine plate. On the handguard, in between the ferrule and the rear barrel band, there is a heavy gouge on the top side and various mild to fair pressure marks. There is a large crack in between the two barrel bands that has been armory repaired, and there is a heavy gouge near the front barrel band. 
 
The overall bluing had been at least partially refurbished at some point, as areas of the rear sight that should be in the white have been blued. Receiver finish has mostly light to mild finish wear. Heavier finish wear on the right side of the receiver at the woodline. Edge wear around the loading slot, the lighting cuts, and the rear of the receiver. Large scratch in the finish on the right side near the pressure relief cutout. Light pitting on parts of the receiver, particularly along the woodline. The barrel has light to mild pitting, hidden underneath the handguard. Both barrel bands have moderate to heavy finish wear and light patina. Mild to fair finish wear on the magazine plate. Mild finish wear on the trigger guard. Fair finish wear on the magazine base. 
 
Receiver has been P stamped three times; there is a double-struck partial P stamp above the serial number, and a properly struck P stamp next to the double P stamp.
 
Both bolt knobs have large, heavy cracks.
