Description:
Swiss 1896/11 Infantry Rifle, produced in 1901, in good condition with 75% original finish. 3/5 Bore (lightly dull bore with mild pitting throughout). 4/5 Stock. Stock and handguard matching serial numbers. Bolt matching serial number. Magazine matching serial number.

The firing pin had been previously modified; the tip has been filed or ground and now ends in a point.

Furniture appears to have been previously sanded. The stock has a very prominent tiger stripe pattern on the left side at the butt, through the grip, and fading out through the finger groove. Faint tiger striping on the right side of the stock from the butt to the finger groove.

On the right side of the stock, there are various light to mild pressure marks and a couple of light gouges around the butt. Before the rear barrel band there is a heavy pressure mark below the woodline. On the left side of the stock there are scattered pressure marks around the butt and a small spot of white paint on the pistol grip. On the underside of the stock there are two more small spots of white paint near the rear sling mount. In front of the magazine plate there are a pair of long, thin pressure marks. There is a triangular shaped pressure mark on the forearm in between the two barrel bands. On the left side of the handguard in front of the rear barrel band there are a series of light gouges/mild pressure marks at the woodline, and there is a light scrape before the front barrel band at the woodline.

Receiver has mild pitting and heavy patina throughout. Moderate to heavy finish wear and heavy patina on both barrel bands. Mild to fair finish wear on the magazine plate. Moderate finish wear, light to mild pitting, and heavy patina on the trigger guard. There is a large impact mark on the right edge of the trigger guard. Magazine base has fair edge wear, moderate to heavy finish wear, heavy patina, and light to mild pitting.

The comb of the stock is stamped with an armory rack number of 504 and BERN for Canton Bern.

On the left side of the stock, three metal six-point stars were affixed to the stock by the previous owner. They may be either glued on or tacked onto the stock; we did not attempt to remove these.

Receiver is P 38 stamped, indicating privatization in 1938.

Includes muzzle cover.
