Description:
Swiss 1896/11 Infantry Rifle, produced in 1907, in very good condition with 85% finish. 4/5 Bore (lightly worn rifling). 4/5 Stock. Stock and handguard matching serial numbers. Bolt matching serial number. 
 
Furniture had been previously sanded. The Swiss military acceptance stamp on the right side of the stock is shallow but still visible. 
 
On the right side of the stock, there are several light scratches and light pressure marks around the butt. There is a gouge below the comb, about halfway down the butt. Mild pressure marks below and to the right of the bolt release lever. In between the finger groove and rear barrel band there is a pair of scratches coming down from the handguard. Before the rear barrel band there is a faint red stain. On the forearm in front of the rear barrel band, there is some sort of red residue at the woodline which extends up to the handguard. On the left side of the stock, there are light pressure marks throughout the butt. There are a few mild gouges low on the grip, above the trigger and trigger guard. Multiple scratches, light gouges and some white paint transfer between the grip and the right side of the finger groove. Several mild gouges around the finger groove, mostly above the right side, and several mild pressure marks on the inside of the finger groove and around the edge. Mild scuffing and pressure marks in front of the rear barrel band. On the underside of the stock, there is a gouge on the right side of the magazine plate in front of the magazine catch, and a moderate gouge forward of the magazine plate. Scattered light pressure marks along the comb. On the handguard, there is a large gouge on the top side in between the ferrule and rear barrel band, and some fair pressure marks on the top side near the front barrel band. There are a couple of long, light pressure marks on the left side of the handguard in front of the ferrule. 
 
Receiver bluing had been previously refurbished. Light patina over the chamber. Light edge wear around the loading slot and the lightening cuts. Both barrel bands have light to mild finish wear and light patina. Light to mild finish wear on the magazine plate. Light finish wear and surface marks on the trigger guard. Mild finish wear on the magazine. 
 
Receiver is P 56 stamped, indicating privatization in 1956.
 
Top bolt knob is cracked and chipped. Bottom bolt knob is chipped.
