Description:
Swiss 1896/11 Infantry Rifle, produced in 1905, in very good condition with 90% finish. 5/5 Bore. 4/5 Stock. Stock and handguard matching serial numbers. Model 1899 bayonet matching serial number.

The serial number on the bolt cylinder had been misstamped during production, with the correct serial number stamped over the originally stamped serial number. This is not a refurbished bolt as the bolt could only be stamped prior to the hardening process.

Furniture had been previously lightly sanded and refinished. The Swiss military acceptance stamp on the right side of the butt is still visible. The Swiss military acceptance stamp on the handguard is very shallow.

On the right side of the stock, there is a light to mild mark to the left of the Swiss military acceptance stamp. There are otherwise no major blemishes on the right side of the stock. On the left side of the stock, there are a few light gouges around the butt. On the area between the end of the grip and the right side of the finger groove there are some light to mild gouges. On the underside of the stock, there is an area that has been heavily sanded, on the right side of the magazine plate in front of the magazine catch. Forward of the magazine plate there are a few mild scratches in the wood. The comb is stamped near the heel with "VAUD" for canton Vaud, and an armory rack number of ?1235; there is a light gouge over the first digit. The handguard has some remnants of previous gouging but otherwise no major blemishes.

All bluing had been previously refurbished. Light edge wear around the loading slot and the lightening cuts. Some old surface marks can be seen underneath the refinished bluing. Rear sight is completely blued where it should be polished and in the white. Very light to light finish wear on both barrel bands. Very little finish wear on the magazine plate. Very light edge wear on the trigger guard. Trigger guard also has various surface marks underneath the refinish. Light finish wear on the magazine base.

Receiver is P stamped.

Model 1889 bayonet with matching serial number was manufactured by Waffenfabrik Neuhausen. Bayonet includes steel scabbard. Scabbard has light finish wear. The bayonet was modified and a blob of solder was added to the left side of the bayonet to aid in retention, similar in idea to the rivet that was added to the right side of the model 1889 bayonet for the model 1889/18.

Includes muzzle cover and leather sling.
