Diese Waffe wird heute auf dem Sammler- und Gebrauchtwaffenmarkt geschätzt, da ihre Produktion in den 1980er Jahren eingestellt wurde. Sie wurde als Zwischenmodell zwischen der Mauser 66 und der Mauser 86SR entwickelt und ist bekannt für ihre Präzision und robuste Bauweise.
