| Swiss Infantry Briquet Saber Model 1842/52, modeled after the French Infantry Briquette 1817. Hilt is one-piece brass construction. Scabbard is blackened leather with a brass throat and tip protector. Leather strap is attached to a loop on the throat for securing to a frog. Leather body has some small abrasions but is otherwise is not dry and in very good condition. No leather washer around the ricasso. Blade has a few small spots of light pitting but is otherwise in very good condition. Blade is stamped with manufacturer mark "W&Co" for Wester & Company of Solingen, Germany. No other stamps are found on the blade nor hilt. |
