The new Gen5 models have been improved with the following features:

• New grip: The finger grooves used since 1998 have disappeared. This change provides a better grip feel for some users.
• Magazine funnel: The grip piece is slightly "angetrichert" on the outside.
• Both models are now equally usable for left- and right-handed users.
• New sighting: The Gen5 models are equipped with a significantly larger light gap between the notch and the front sight. This results in a much better sight picture, especially under adverse lighting conditions.
• Modified barrel: The barrel has been redesigned and now bears the name GLOCK's Marksman Barrel (GMB) and is said to ensure improved accuracy.
• New surfaces: According to the manufacturer, the new models have received a much more durable surface.
