| Im Jahr 1858 wurde Sir Henry Whitworth vom Englischen Kriegsministerium beauftragt ein neues Gewehr, als Ersatz für das „Enfield Pattern 53“ zu konstruieren. Er begann seine Arbeit an einem Gewehr im Kaliber .451 mit hexagonalem Laufinnenprofil. Das Gewehr übertraf alle Erwartungen der „Britisch Rifle Association“ und überzeugte Königin Victoria, während der 1859 durchgeführten Schießtests auf 400 yards (366 m) von dessen Überlegenheit. Gewehr mit gehämmertem hexagonalen Lauf, einem Schaft aus amerikanischen Nussbaum und buntgehärtetem Schloss . Parker Hale Long Range Diopter und Korntunnel (Originale Visierung ist dabei) sind montiert. Putzstock mit hexagonaler Pflasteraufnahme und Sechskant Locheisen für Zwischenblättchen werden mitgeliefert. Auf Wunsch kann für 100 euro zusätzlich zum VK-Preis eine hexagonale Hensel- Kokille erworben werden.
