Das vorgestellte Exemplar wurde 1965 nach dem Colt-Register hergestellt. Die Pistole hat ein sehr schönes poliertes bronziertes Finish, typisch für die Pre-70-Serie. Diese Pistole scheint anstelle der Standard-Kunststoffgriffe Holzgriffe zur Erinnerung an das hundertjährige Bestehen der NRA (1871-1971) erhalten zu haben. The Colt Super 38 is a version of the Colt 1911A1 (military version) or Colt Government (commercial version), which was chambered for the .38SA cartridge. The specimen presented was manufactured in 1965 according to the Colt register. The pistol has a very nice polished black finish, typical of the pre-70 series. This pistol seems to have received commemorative wooden grips of the centenary of the NRA (1871-1971) in place of the standard plastic grips. Wooden double-diamond grips were added later.
