Der verbesserte Umbau der New Army aus dem Jahr 1858 wurde um 1873 von Remington mit einem speziellen, werkseitig eingebauten zweiteiligen Zylinder eingeführt, wobei der Ladehebel übrig blieb und ein Auswerfer hinzugefügt wurde. Die Kombination des von Richards patentierten Designs und des von Mason patentierten Patronensystems wird als Richards-Mason-Umwandlung bezeichnet. Die Merkmale, die dieses Modell auszeichnen, sind: der hintere Ring ohne Visier und mit einer Aussparung, damit der Hammer auf die Patrone treffen kann, und der spezielle Lauf, der für das Richards-Mason-Projekt hergestellt wurde. | ||||||||||||||||||
