Robust, zuverlässig, präzise - und mit Gewindelauf zur Montage eines Schalldämpfers, was damals ein Novum war. Nach härtesten Vergleichserprobungen des US Special Operations Command wurde die nur 12 Schuss fassende und mehr als 1,2 kg schwere MARK 23 unter der Bezeichnung 'MK23 MOD.O, US SOCOM' als Dienstpistole eingeführt.
Prinzipiell handelt es sich bei der Mark 23 um eine Variante der HK USP mit Gewinde-Polygonlauf und Montageschiene am Vorderschaft. Magazinauslköser und Sicherung sind beidseitig vorhanden. Links befindet sich zusätzlich zum Schlittenfanghebel auch ein Entspannhebel. Weitere Besonderheiten: Ausgelegt auf eine Dauerbelastung von 30'000 Schuss mit Surplus-Munition, Funktionssicherheit bei Temperaturen zwischen +73 °C / – 54 °C, Puffersystem zur Minimierung der Rückstosskräfte, extrem korrosionsresistente Oberflächenbeschichtung aller Metallteile, hartverchromtes Polygonrohr. |
