| Artillerie BS vor 1817, Säbel Elegantes und seltenes Faschinenmesser mit Schuppengriff Dieses sehr formschöne elegante Faschinenmesser wurde vom Kanton Basel wahrscheinlich vor 1817 angeschafft. Die Ordonnanz 1817 bestimmte für die Mannschaft der Artillerie ausdrücklich den kurzen Säbel, aufgrund der Mustermodelle handelt es sich beim vorgeschriebenen Säbel um ein Briquet mit Keilklinge. Bestehende ältere Modelle von guter Qualität konnten behalten werden, und das vorgeschriebene Modell musste nur bei Neuanschaffungen berücksichtigt werden. Vielleicht war Basel Stadt inspiriert vom französischen Faschinenmesser für Artillerie Modell 1816. Dieses hat auch einen Schuppengriff. Das Basler Faschinenmesser ist jedoch viel eleganter. Der Griff mit den Schuppenreihen ist schlank. Statt einer massiven viereckigen Parierstange mit walzenförmigen Enden wie beim französischen Modell hat das Basler Modell Parierstangenende in Form von Kleeblättern. Die Klinge ist nicht zweischneidig, sondern es ist ein Haumesser mit dem Schwerpunkt vorne. Diese Klingenform bei einem Faschinenmesser ist für die Schweiz einmalig. Dieses Modell wurde laut Uniformenikonographie noch nach 1852 von Basler Artilleristen getragen. Das vorliegende Faschinenmesser wurde nach der Ausmusterung wahrscheinlich von einer Verwaltung getragen, z.B. der Polizei. Die Tragetasche mit dem Tragehaken lässt darauf schliessen. Faschinenmesser und Scheide sind in sehr gutem Zustand. Die Klinge tadellos ohne Scharten. Einzig am Ortband hat einmal ein Spezialist versucht, mit Leim die Halterung zu verbessern. Die Leimspuren könnten abgekratzt werden. |
