| Säbel 1902, Bajonett 1918 Abschaffung der Säbel 1943. Zeitzeugen 1943 wurden die Säbel abgeschafft. Die Kavalleristen durften wegen Rohstoffmangel ihre Säbel nicht behalten oder kaufen, der Stolz ihrer Ausrüstung war dahin. Jede Schwadron musste 165 Säbel im Korpsmaterial einlagern. Da die Wirksamkeit einer Drohung mit einem blanken Säbel beim Ordnungsdienst aus dem Generalstreik von 1918 noch bekannt war, wollte man sich die Möglichkeit einer Ausrüstung mit Säbeln offen halten. Die Kavalleristen behielten deshalb ihre Säbelscheidetasche Modell 1922. Sie fassten Bajonette Modell 1918, auf eine Umnummerierung der Bajonette auf die Nummer der Handfeuerwaffe wurde ausdrücklich verzichtet. Die lange Strippe der Säbelscheidetasche musste mit dem Bajonett in der Scheidentasche versorgt werden. Die Lederstrippe des Bajonetts musste durch die Zeughäuser gelocht werden. Dadurch konnte das Bajonett am Nietkopf der Scheidetasche gesichert werden. Dieser Dragoner hat 1956 nach Auflösung der Säbeldepots wieder einen Säbel gekauft. Er musste 1943 seinen Säbel abgeben und ein Bajonett 1918 fassen, das ursprünglich zu einem 11er Karabiner gehörte. Die Klingen waren sehr gut eingefettet. Beide Waffen waren in einem feuchten Raum aufbewahrt. Der Rost ist nicht tief eingefressen und kann mit Schleifleinen feucht gereinigt werden. Schlagband mit Stempel. Das Schlagband allein ist 30 bis 50 Franken wert. |
