| Säbel kant. Ord. 1804 Klinge 18. Jh. Remontierter Griff um 1804 Die Klinge stammt von einem Grenadiersäbel entweder des Kantons Schaffhausen, der Miliz der Stadt St. Gallen oder der Truppen der Fürstabtei St. Gallen. Diese trugen Klingen mit den Ätzungen Mond, Sonne und Sultan. Nach 1804 wurden Säbel aus dem 18. Jh. oft modernisiert, indem die alten Griffe demontiert und mit einem Monoblock Messinggriff remontiert wurden. Der Griff hat sehr subtile Zierrinnen und Zierstiche. Interessant ist die Parierstange, die schon Stilelemente des französischen Rundbügelgriff-Briquets AN IX aufweist. Unter der Parierstange sind Spuren einer Lötstelle zu finden. Wahrscheinlich wurde die Parierstange einmal verletzt und sorgfältig wieder verlötet. |
