| 88 Caliber; good bore, good stock, 35.75'' barrel, 19th century rampart gun used for defense on fort walls and other fortifications. Manufactured at the Amberg arsenal in 1844. Full octagonal rifled barrel with a dovetailed inverted V front sight blade. Ladder rear sight graduated to 1200 meters with a 300 meter fixed blade when folded down. Browned finished with color case hardened lockplate and tieplate. Walnut stock with steel rimmed cap and several strong proof marks. Forend held with two wedges. Double rear set triggers. Action functions but is stiff and missing the hammer screw. Nipple is in good condition. The bore has shine with heavy deep rifling. Stock has many dings and dents. Left side upper edge of the forend has two grain splits above the lower wedge plate. Antique. |
