| Description: |
| 54 Cal; good bore, good stock, 7.5'' barrel, Matching pair of smoothbore flintlock pistols, manufactured in Schmalkalden Germany by B. & E.W. Pistor. The pistols are indentical with the exception of the markings. Part octagon barrels, fixed sight, iron mounted walnut stocks with bone forend tips. Original bone tipped ramrods. Similar pattern fine engraving. The stocks on both pistols have been professionally refinised long ago with a couple repairs to minor cracks, one pistol having the forend replaced for about 3.5 inches at the end. That pistol has a number stamped on the right side of the handle. One pistol has silver inlay on top of the barrel "B. & E. W. Pistor with the lock engraved "in Schmalkhalden", the other has silver inlay on top of the barrel "in Schmalkhalden" with the lock engraved "B. & E. W. Pistor". The actions function on both, however one pistol has lost its full cock notch. Reportedly this pair of pistols was taken from a museum after WW2 ended and brought home by a returning soldier. The stamped number on the one pistol may be a museum inventory number and the stocks likely refinished for display purposes during the same time period. Antique, |
