| 65 CAL; 90% blue, very good bore, very good stock, 8'' barrel, Original blued finish barrel, casehardened lockplate, brass mounted walnut stock. 1869 dated lockplate. Rear of lockplate marked with the Royal crown over "E I G". The left side stock flat is clearly stamped with an EIG Birmingham roundel and "COOPER & GOODMAN". The left side of the barrel is stamped with British proof markings. The left side of the grip butt is stamped "RA 3 1886". These percussion smoothbore pistols were issued to the East India Government troops after the Sepoy Rebellion c.1858. After the uprising the British armed native troops in the region with sub-standard and obsolete weapons, while British regular troops were armed with the latest technology in weapons. The methodology was that if there was any mutinous behavior from native people in the future, they would not be armed with modern weaponry. This example is in overall excellent condition, the lockplate retains 80% plus case color with some minor spotting along edges. Markings and proofs are clear and legible, and the bore is bright with only minor spots of any corrosion. The lock functions perfectly. The barrel and stock show some handling however nothing major.
