| 44 Caliber; fair bore, good grips, 7 1/2'' barrel, Early fluted cylinder variation of which approximately 4000 were produced. Manufactured in 1860. Matching serial numbers include the wedge. Metal has turned pretty much an even light spotty patina overall. Some rounding of the edges of the muzzle from 165 years of holstering. Silver plated brass trigger guard and steel backstrap retain about 60% finish. Walnut grip is good, mainly only trace varnish remains, very minor shrinkage at the borders of the frame. Bore has sharp rifling, but has levels of rust and pitting throughout. Screws are all original, have been turned in the past but no terribly buggered slots. The action functions well, the mainspring seems rather stiff though. And the wedge is pretty worn. Marking are visible however no longer sharp, single line Colt's Hartford address stamped on top of the barrel. Antique, s/n 11xx |
