| 45 ACP; 90% blue, very good bore, very good grips, 5'' barrel, With factory letter. Manufactured May 1918, original brush blued finish and checkered walnut double diamond grips. Scarce dual marked commercial/military slide ( see Clawson's Collectors Guide page 30). Parts correct with Colt type 4 barrel. Marked on the left side of the frame "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" with the John M. Gilbert inspector mark. The right side of the slide is marked "MODEL OF 1911. U.S. ARMY" and with the commercial marking "COLT AUTOMATIC / CALIBRE 45". Two tone finish magazine is marked on top of the lip with an "L". Exceptional finish with thinning on the grip frame straps, fairly light edge wear and some scattered light spotting. The letter states shipment to the United States Government on May 13, 1918 with 4,800 guns total in the shipment., s/n 2948xx |
