| 44-40 WCF; good bore, good grips, 7 1/2'' barrel, Manfactured in 1885. None of the originally blued finish remains. Clear markings, single line Colt's address along the top of the barrel. Left side of the barrel stamped "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER". Left side of the frame stamped with patent dates 1871, 1872 and 1875 in three lines. Matching serial numbers. Plain walnut grip has some shrinkage at the borders with the frame. The metal has scattered dark spotting. Some pitting in the cylinder flutes, lighter spots of pitting on the frame. The action functions fine, there is slight rebound at full cock. Timing is good. The bore has strong rifling with various levels of corrosion throughtout. ANtique, s/n 1174xx |
