| fair bore, good grips, 4'' barrel, Original with matching serial numbers including the wedge. The metal has aged to an even dark spotted silver/grey patina. Brass trigger guard and backstrap showing mainly only traces of the silver plate finish. Original walnut grip retains generous original varnish finish. First type barrel markings "ADDRESS SAM L COLT/NEW-YORK CITY". Left side of the frame marked "COLTS/PATENT". 5-shot cylinder. Screw heads are all good, barrel is snug, all markings are relatively clear and the action functions well. The cylinder shows about 40% of the stagecoach scene. The butt of the grip frame has a previous owners name engraved "Theo. Kenderdine". This name was found on several ancestry sites, one being a gentleman that lived from 1825-1903 in Pennsylvania and in Iowa., Flaydermans 7th pp 73, s/n 699xx |
