| .45 Colt; 10% blue, good bore, very good grips, 7 1/2'' barrel, EARLY COLT SAA SER #1505 MADE IN 1874. THIS REVOLVER WAS A DEMONSTRATION SAA OF THE ARMS DEALER JOSEPH C. GRUBB & COMPANY IN PHILIDELPHIA. IT HAS A GERMAN SILVER FRONT SIGHT.THE FINISH IS MOSTLY GONE WITH TRACES OF BLUING ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE BARREL AND ON THE GRIP STRAPS. THE FRAME SHOWS TRACES OF ITS CASE COLORS AND THE RIGHT SIDE IS ENGRAVED "BUFFALO BILL CODY." CODY WAS KNOWN TO HAVE GIFTED NUMEROUS FIREARMS WITH HIS NAME ENGRAVED ON THEM. THE BORE IS BRIGHT WITH GOOD RIFLING AND LIGHT OXIDATION PRESENT. THE GRIPS ARE VARNISHED ROOT WOOD EXHIBITING LIGHT HANDLING MARKS. THE TRIGGER GUARD IS ERRONEOUSLY STAMPED "CAL 22" AND THE BARREL INSCRIPTION IS IN ITALICS. THE ACTION IS SMOOTH, TIGHT AND IN TIME. ALL VISIBLE NUMBERS ARE MATCHING., s/n 15xx |
