| 44/40 Caliber; fair bore, fair grips, 5'' barrel, ANTIQUE COLT SAA ENGRAVED IN FITTED CASE W/HOLSTER. PER THE FACTORY LETTER THIS SAA LEFT THE FACTORY WITH A 7 1/2" BARREL. SO THE BARREL WAS LATER CUT DOWN TO 5" PROBABLY AT THE TIME OF ENGRAVING. ALSO SHIPPED WITH PEARL GRIPS WITH CARVED MEXICAN EAGLE MOTIF. SHIPPED AUGUST 16, 1888 TO KETELSON & GEGETAU, EL PASO, TEXAS. THE REVOLVER RETAINS JUST TRACE AMOUNTS OF THE ORIGINAL NICKLE FINISH. OF NOTE WHEN COLT ACID ETCHED THE BARREL "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER" THEY DID SO LOWER ON THE BARREL ANTICIPATING HOW THE BARREL WOULD BE ENGRAVED. THE BORE HAS DISINCT BUT HEAVILY WORN RIFLING WITH OXIDATION PRESENT. THE PEARL GRIPS HAVE SMALL CHIPS OUT OF BOTH PANELS AT THE BOTTOM. COMES IN A FITTED LEATHER CASE MIMICKING A LARGE BOOK AND CONTAINS A LEATHER HOLSTER. THIS IS A GREAT LOOKING SAA IN VERY NICE CONDITION., s/n 1271xx |
