| 44-40 WCF; excellent bore, good grips, 5 1/2'' barrel, Manufactured in 1881, re-barreled with a post 1889 Colt barrel, with the stamped "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER" on the left side. The frame, trigger guard, backstrap and cylinder are matching. Original walnut grip. Three line patent dates 1871, 1872 and 1875 on the left side of the frame. Barrel stamped on the top with the single line Colt' address. The left side of the front trigger guard is marked "44 C.F.". The barrel has trace blued finish, the remainder of the revolver is gray with some dark spotting and signs of cleaning scratches. Some scattered light pitting mainly on the cylinder and topstrap. The grip was sanded on long ago leaving them a bit undersize and there is a small chip at the heel of the right side along the edge of the frame. Mechanically fine though the action is a bit rough.
