| 69 Cal; poor bore, fair stock, 39.25'' barrel, Palmetto Armory marked lock, stamped at the back Columbia/S C 1852. A US M1842 musket. Walnut stock held with three iron bands. The barrel has had about 2.75 inches cut from the muzzle. U.S. marked on the buttplate tang. The tang and hammer screws are replacements. The stock has been heavily sanded years ago. There is a partially repaired break on the bottom of the forend and there is a crack on the right side of the butt at the buttplate. Missing the ramrod. The lock works fine. This piece was found by a local elderly ladies great grandfather many years ago. Patina metal with spotting and pitting over all. Antique., |
