| 69 Caliber; like new bore, excellent stock, 7 3/8'' barrel, Matched pair of percussion pistols manufactured in France c.1850's. Devisme rivaled Boutet as one of the all time best gunsmiths for quality of workmanship and innovation. This pair was probably for an Army officer. These pistols appear unfired and mechanically perfect. Bright blued finish rifled octagon barrels, with fine blade front sights and fixed rear sights. Walnut stocks with bright floral finely engraved mounts. Multi grooved grips. Compartments in butts for caps. Each inlaid in gold on top of the barrels "DEVISME A PARIS". Ramrods with reversible worm tips. Actions on both function well. One pistol has significant flaking in the finish on the barrel with light spotting in areas of loss. |
