| 14mm; excellent bore, 33'' barrel, Very rare. Finish in white with a fixed front sight and a 2-leaf 3-position rear sight. The fixed portion of rear sight is marked, 1-200, short leaf with 3-400, and the tall leaf with 7-800 over 5-600. S/n 2 appears on the left side of the barrel, the left side of octagonal chamber, on the bolt as well as most screw heads. All steel components are in white with brass barrel bands and trigger guard. Birmingham proofs appear on major components. The top of the octagon chamber is unmarked while brass fittings have no markings. The stock is made of a single piece of wood. Original cleaning rod is in place. Provenance: Collection of Dr. Geoffrey Sturgess. All in white steel components have advanced oxidation, particularly over the chamber, receiver and buttplate. Brass fittings are mustard toned with shallow oxidative etching. Original varnished stock, inspector markings just below trigger extension, with numerous handling dings, dents and staining. Negligible losses and no discernable cracks. Bright bore with strong rifling. Excellent mechanically., s/n 2 |
