| 7.65x53mm; fair bore, good stock, 22'' barrel, 1909 Argentine Mauser short rifle, sometimes called the "mountain carbine" or "engineers carbine". Original finish has aged to an even light patina. Dark walnut stock and handguard. Receiver and bolt in the white. Matching serial numbers except the proper bolt with turned down handle. The cleaning rod is matching. Has the bayonet lug extension for the M1891 and M1909 bayonets, missing the retaining pin. Argentine crest on top of the receiver ring is a bit faint. Stock markings faint but legible. Small old chip behind the receiver tang. The handguard has a crack on top between the receiver and rear sight, with some chipping at the rear edge of the handguard. Another crack at the upper end of the handguard. No recent import marks, is stamped on the left side of the barrel near the tip of the handguard "765". The bore has fairly strong rifling, shows some wear and pitting throughout., s/n A34xx |
