| 12 Ga; fair bore, good stock, 28'' barrel, Marked on both lock plates "Belmont Interchangeable Gun", on top of the right barrel "BELMONT INTERCHANGEABLE" and on top of the left barrel "FINE DAMASCUS". The end of the barrel rib is marked "PATENT/MAY 31, 1884/CLIP LUMP". Matching serial numbers on the frame, barrels and forearm and British proofs are on the frame and barrels. Browned Damascus barrels, casehardened frame and lockplates and mounted in a checkered walnut finished beechwood replacement stock and original walnut forearm. The finish on the barrels has mostly faded to a gray patina with visible damascus grain. The left barrel has three small dings on the side. The right barrel has a shallow dent on the bottom. The frame has turned a gray patina with some minor spotting. The forearm show wear to the checkering, the bone tip is intact. The stock has a few minor dings and is fitted with a fine checkered buttplate. The actions work fine. The barrels have a tiny bit of forced play in lockup. Antique., s/n 58xx |
