| 44 Evans; 85% blue, good bore, fair stock, 30'' barrel, New Model variation, stamped on top of the barrel "EVANS REPEATING RIFLE, MECHANIC FALLS ME., PAT. DEC. 8, 1868 & SEP. 16, 1871 U.S.A.". Military Musket converted to Sporting Rifle with 30 inch round barrel, checkered walnut sporting forend held with a single screw. Original blued finish. Fixed front sight, military style ladder rear sight. Sling swivel retained on the bottom of the frame. 28 shot butt tube magazine capacity. The lower walnut stock has a crack on the bottom which runs from the upper end back to the single retaining screw, and a 5" crack on the left side. The upper stock has a crack on the left side running from the upper end back for about 4.5". Two screws are replacements on the frame. The buttplate retains some case color. Mechanically the rifle seems fine and the bore has shine with strong rifling. Antique. |
