| 40 cal; 96% blue, excellent bore, very good stock, 24'' barrel, Manufactured between 1872 -1888. 4th Type (aka Mid-Range No. 2) - globe front sight replaced the German silver sight. It has a 24. inch heavy octagonal barrel with a bright bore with strong rifling. This is a second type, Model two-trigger Frank Wesson rifle with the slotted barrel link on the left side and a manually operated ejector on the right. The barrel is marked FRANK WESSON WORCESTER MASS / PAT'D OCT 25, 1859 & NOV 11, 1862. The metal finish on the barrel has very mild scattered patina The edges of the barrel are not dented. The front sight is a post inside of a globe, and the rear is a fixed V notch. It also has a peep sight. The receiver’s finish has turned a plum color and has scattered mild patina. The buttstock is in very good condition with few handling marks. The tang is engraved with the initials, C.D.B. The blued buttplate has some color fading on the top of the comb. Overall, this rifle is in very good condition ANTIQUE., s/n 46xx |
