| 44 Rimfire; 98% blue, excellent bore, good stock, 30'' barrel, Second type rifle, made c.1864-1875. Original blued finish and walnut stock. Color case hardened trigger, hammer and buttplate. Full octagon barrel with silver blade fixed front sight, fixed rear sight. Manual ejector on right side of the barrel. Stamped on top of the barrel "FRANK WESSON WORCESTER, MASS./PAT'D OCT 25. 1859 & NOV. 11 1862". The stock has tight cracks on each side of the toe, running up from the area of the lower buttplate screw. Metal finish is very nice showing some scattered minor handling scratches and marks. The action functions well. The bore is bright and clean. A very nice example, and with an estimated 35,000 produced a rather scarce American sporting arm of the period., s/n 45xx |
