| This Volkssturm Armband is a textbook original example. These armbands were sometimes the only “uniform” issued to members of the late war German civilian militia, and there were many variants, with this one being the most widely used style. This one is printed, as most of these were. It is made of a fairly coarse, thin fabric, with a plain weave. The original colors are strong. This armband is finished at the top and bottom with machine stitching and is sewn together in the back. Inside, the printing is visible in reverse, a typical result of period printing techniques. This armband is in fair condition as where it is sewn together is ripped, with part of the fabric is missing, |
