| Description: |
| 9mm Luger; very good bore, good grips, 3 3/16'' barrel, Consignor notes state that this pistol is an Iver Johnson prototype semi-automatic pistol, double action, chambered for the 9mm Parabellum (Luger) cartridge. This pistol is unmarked except for the serial number EP008 stamped on the right side of the frame, electro-penciled serial number EP8 marked on the right side of the slide, and an occasionaly electro-penciled mark on some of the small parts. (note: be carefull when disassembling the right grip panel, as a plate which retains the sear and working springs is held by this plate which falls easily away when the grip panel is removed-I learned the hard way while looking for other markings). The prototype has been left "in the white" with rough finished steel castings of the slide and frame. The metal has many areas of filing and hand fitting of parts. The pistol is fitted with plain walnut grip panels and is complete with the original 8-shot magazine which has a blued finish and bright base. Fixed front sight casted integrally with the slide, which is dovetailed at the rear for a rear sight blade, which is not installed. As stated the pistol has a double action with a soild guide rod for the return spring and a serrated small combat style hammer. The safety is a hammer block system. At least eight of these prototypes were evidently made, with the pistol never going into full production. Seems fine mechanically. FFL, s/n EP0xx |
