| 22 LONG RIFLE; 85% blue, very good bore, good stock, 29'' barrel, J.G. Anschutz conversion from a GEW.98 sevice rifle to a 22 caliber single shot rifle. The top of the sleeved barrel is stamped with the JGA logo. Crown/N and Nitro proof over the left side of the barrel. Crown/N, B and U proofed on the right side of the receiver ring. It appears the receiver ring has been milled down to a small type action, with the right side of the rceiver ring milled out for loading clearance. Red platform fitted into the magazine well. The stock and fitting are matching serial numbered, but do not match the barrel serial number. The bolt is not numbered, having crown/B and U proofs on the handle shank. Beechwood stock and handguard, the stock retains Imperial proofing on the right side. Original fixed inverted V front sight. Original GEW tangent rear sight, the base has the original graduations removed on the sides, the left side has two added marks for 50 and 100 meters. With original leather sling, cleaning rod and proofed nickel finish muzzle cover. It appears that J.G. Anschutz produced many of these conversions in similar configurations.
