| Description: |
| 10 GA; fair bore, fair stock, 19'' barrel, Manufactured in 1895, sidelocks with damascus barrels. 2 7/8 inch chambers. Stocked in walnut. Matching serial numbers on the watertable and barrels. The forend is a mis-match but fits and functions well. The left side of the stock has a large section of inset wood which does not match the original grain, purpose unknown, speculation would be this was done to cover an area of old markings on the stock after removal. The barrels have been cut to length, not recently. No sight nor hole for a sight. No original metal finishes remain, the metal mostly light gray with patina and spotting overall. The wood is worn with visible areas of checkering on the forend and grip. The forend has a small chip on the right side upper rear corner. Original hard rubber buttplate is worn and there is a cleaned up old chip at the toe of the stock and buttplate. The bores are semi-bright, showing areas of pitting and corrosion throughout. This gun is mechanically sound with tight barrel lockup. In the American West the last stagecoaches were still running until just before WW1, this could be a real old west "stagecoach" gun. Shows its age and lots of handling but due to it's mechanical condition it hasn't been fired much. Antique, s/n 397xx |
