| 7.63mm Mauser; 70% blue, good bore, good grips, 5.5'' barrel, Large Ring Hammer Flatside with original blue finish and walnut grips. Fixed front and 1000 meter tangent rear sights. The usual Mauser Oberndorf markings appear on top of the chamber. No visible serial number in the ordinary locations, on chamber flat, hammer, subframe or frame. No proofing or inspector markings on any externally visible surfaces. Long extractor, single lug firing pin. Fire blued extractor, sight assembly, bolt stop, safety, grip screw. Thin, strawed trigger. Was not disassembled. Original lanyard ring. The serial number 1A was applied at import to comply with BATFE regulations. Provenance: From the collection of Dr. Geoffrey Sturgess. Condition: Good. 70% original blue finish showing considerable handling. Comparable condition fire blued and strawed parts. Original finish but no serial numbers or proofs might suggest assembly for in-house testing. It may have been assembled just prior to the Italian Navy contract or simply assembled from spare parts.
