| 8.15x46mmR; 80% blue, good bore, good stock, 29'' barrel, An example of a conversion to an 8.15x46mm Wehrmanngewehr rifle by a private gunsmith. This WMG retains the original receiver markings of a GEW.98 military rifle, Imperial proofs and acceptance markings. Mauser manufactured in 1917 with a 1920 rework date on top of the receiver ring. Mis-Matched parts. Re-finished metal as was done during the conversion in the mid 1920's. Walnut finger groove stock with takedown ring, side sling mounting, and recessed for the turned down bolt. The stock is the type commonly used on the GEW 98 S/42 reworks, having a Reichswehr eagle proof and BSW mark on the bottom of the butt. These stocks were produced and sent to HZA depots as replacements for use in rebuilding and repairing service rifles. This rifle retains the standard fixed inverted V front sight and GEW tangent rear sight, which has not been marked with graduations for the 8.15x46 cartridge. This rifle has no commercial proofing as well. An original cleaning rod is present. The metal and wood show wear and handling. The bore shows some light corrosion at the muzzle end.
