| 44-40 Winchester; good bore, good grips, 3 5/16'' barrel, Early model c.1880's manufacture. Restored nickel finish with hard rubber grips which are possible reproduction. Markings remain mostly legible, stamped on the right side of the frame "MERWIN.HULBERT & CO. N.Y. / POCKET ARMY", and on the left side "Calibre/Winchester 1873". The Hopkins & Allen and patent dates in two lines on the left side of the barrel are a bit faint. The hammer has been refinished over some minor pitting. The bore has strong rifling, showing light corrosion throughtout. The bottom of the forcing cone area on the barrel has some pitting and loss of metal at the edge. Serial number at the rear sight the barrel lug is not matching. Antique, s/n 28xx |
