| 44-40 WCF; fair bore, good grips, 7'' barrel, Manufactured c.1880's. Single action. Original factory nickel finish and polished bone grips. Matching serial numbers. Birdshead butt. Round barrel with fixed sight, stamped on top in a single line "MERWIN HULBERT & CO. NEW YORK. U.S.A." followed by 1874, 1875, 1876 and 1877 patent dates. Left side of the barrel marked "THE HOPKINS & ALLEN MANUFACTURING CO. NORWICH. CONN. U.S.A.". Left side of the frame marked "CALIBRE/WINCHESTER 1873". Nickel finish has dulled with age, scattered spots of corrosion mainly on the frame, spot or two on the barrel. Grips have natural yellowing and stress cracks, no chips or breaks. Mechanically fine. The bore has strong rifling, shows pitting and corrosion throughout. Antique., s/n 34xx |
