| 44-40 Winchester; good bore, very good grips, 3.25'' barrel, Manufactured c.1876-1880's, late production large frame single action "Pocket Army" revolver with topstrap and birdhead grip frame. Original factory nickel finish and checkered hard rubber grips. Matching assembly numbers on frame, barrel and cylinder. Stamped on the left side of the barrel "HOPKINS & ALLEN M'F'G CO. NORWICH CONN. U.S.A." with patent dates 1874, 1875, 1876 and 1877 in two lines. Caliber designation "CALIBRE/WINCHESTER 1873" on the left side of the frame. "MERWIN, HULBERT & CO. N.Y./POCKET ARMY" stamped on the right side of the frame. Revolver retains approximately 94% nickel finish with fading in the cylinder flutes and front grip frame strap. Some speckling in the finish with small scratches and handling marks overall. Faded blued finish on the trigger guard. The action functions well and the gun locks up tight. The bore has scattered spots of pitting. Antique., s/n 53xx |
