| 44-40 Caliber; fair bore, fair grips, 4 3/4'' barrel, Manufactured c.1880's in Mexico. A rough copy of the then very popular Colt 1873 SAA revolver. Metal is in the white with no traces of any kind of finish. Coarsely hand checkered wooden grips, the screw a more recent replacement. Right panel cracked on the butt. Fit and overall quality of this example is very crude. And it shows age and handling with many dings and scattered spots of pitting. The top of the barrel is stamped in two lines, which reads to the best of my vision "CLTSCARTRIDGESARETHOSETHAT/ FITBESTTHELUSKAROREVOLVER". The left side of the frame is stamped "CAL44". Action functions but is rough and timing varies. Short trigger. Interesting example, not recommended for use., s/n 66 |
