| 8mm; 70% blue, poor bore, good grips, 4 3/16'' barrel, This revolver is of unknown manufacture or origin and any info from our customers will be appreciated. Marked along the frame top strap ALEX J SVOBODA which at one time was gold inlaid. The left side of the frame is stamped with a circled five pointed star over a lazy crescent moon, and above this logo TRADE and below MARK, reminding me of a Spanish mark. The left side front corner of the frame is marked 8m/m. The right side of the frame has the same Trade Mark star and moon logo which is very faint. The right side of the barrel flat has an illegible proof mark. The number 23 appears on some of the parts. The revolver has been refinished long ago over pitting. The barrel is part octagon with a flanged muzzle. The cylinder is 9-shot. The gun has been fitted with newer made plain walnut grips. There is a small safety lever on the left side of the frame which does not seem to function. The action works fine in the single action mode, however will not function in double action. The hammer appears to have been repaired at some point. The bore is worn with pitting and may have been smoothbored. Update 1: Some information from one of our customers suggests that this is possibly a Khyber Pass copy, as Alex Svoboda was a procurer of curios and tourist items from the Middle Eastern countries around the turn of the century. Update 2: Information from another of our customers states that the star and moon logo is that of Spanish maker Francisco Arizmendi of Eibar, and suggests that it may be a Constabulary revolver sold by A.L. Frank of Nurenburg. C&R/FFL, s/n 0601-11xx. |
