| 30-06 Cal; 60% blue, good bore, 22'' barrel, Sporterized and converted M1891 Mosin Nagant rifle by the Francis Bannerman & Sons surplus and equipment dealers c.1920's, for use with readily available 30-06 Springfield ammunition. Considerable alterations were made to these surplused Mosin Nagant rifles, having a different bolt head made for the rimless 30-06 cartridge, original barrel set back at the chamber and modified magazine for the 30-06. Dovetailed base for the rear sight, in this example the sight has been removed. Fixed front sight dovetailed to the shortened barrel. This rifle has had a modified Savage marked elevation adjustable rear sight dovetailed to the top of the chamber. Bolt handle properly turned down a bit, done by Bannermans. Original walnut stock sporterized and lightly refinished. Stock and side of the magazine box have electro-penciled numbers added which are the same. Bore is strong but has moderate frost throughout., s/n 5440xx |
