| Description: |
| 35 Remington; 80% blue, very good+ bore, good stock, 22'' barrel, First year production 1906. The barrel jacket head is stamped on the left with the date code RSS3, indicating a factory repair in 1947. The barrel plate is stamped 144 followed by a cancelled number over which an 8 is stamped, followed by an additional number 8 (14488). Assuming the numbers on the barrel plate, due to the canceled number with additional number 8 are a mis-stamp of some sort possibly at the time of factory repair. This rifle has its original blued finish and plain walnut straight grip stock with factory serrated plastic buttplate. Fixed Lyman beaded front sight. Elevation adjustable rear sight with stamped 1902 patent date. The top of the barrel shroud is stamped in two lines with the Remington Arms Co address over Browning patent dates 1900 and 1902. Caliber designation "35 Rem." is engraved on top of the barrel jacket head and stamped on the right barrel chamber. The upper receiver tang is fitted with a Lyman adjustable folding aperture sight. The metal finish is thinning overall, barrel shroud has browned a bit, and there is some dark spotting on the upper left side of the receiver. The wood is overall in very good condition, however there is a small chip on the toe of the butt and a tight 1" crack on the bottom of the forend running up from the plate. The wood appears to have been lightly sanded at some point long ago. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. The rifle is accompanied by a wooden storage box with dark blue felt lined interior. Inside the box is a cleaning rod and plastic sealed bore brush in a worn and torn vintage cloth cover marked "Rifle Cleaning Rod" from the Union Hardware Company, along with three additional brass rod sections., s/n 14xx |
