| 38 CF; 20% blue, fair bore, good grips, 7 1/2'' barrel, U.S. Navy conversion c.1875 to .38 Caliber center fire, the contract with Remington called for 1000 revolvers to be converted to the "Improved Design", having a loading gate added on the right side of the frame and an ejector rod added to the right side of the barrel. The ramrod was retained. THE BLUING HAS TURNED MAINLY PATINA WITH TRACES OF THE ORIGINAL BRIGHT BLUED FINISH. THE LOADING LATCH SPRING IS WEAK. THE BORE IS SEMI BRIGHT WITH WORN RIFLING AND OXIDATION PRESENT. THE SMOOTH WALNUT GRIPS ARE WORN WITH NO LEGIBLE MARKING, SHOWING SOME SHRINKAGE AND AN OLD CHIP AT THE TOE OF THE RIGHT GRIP.
