| very good grips, 9.5'' barrel, The RAD (Reicharbeitsdienst - Reich Labor Service) dagger/hewer was introduced in 1937. Unlike the later officer's dagger which was only intended for dress wear, the enlisted men were designed to be to be used, hence it is design and construction being considerably more robust. A RAD enlisted man's dagger/hewer - Materials: stag horn grip - steel scabbard with early cupronickel fittings - High Carbon Steel blade with the obverse of the blade etched with the RAD's motto "Arbeit Adelt" (Work enables), Maker's mark to the reverse of the blade "Carl Julkress - Solingen" also "RADJ Ges. Gesch. The blade has numerous scratches. The crossbar and the frame have dark spots, scratches, and patina, Scabbard is in good undented condition retaining most of the original black enamel paint. The bottom metal end piece has edge finish loss. Overall, in good condition. |
